This is a new series of metal sculptures of animals and owls, based on those I have installed in the 40 acre city park I have been fixing up the past few years in Johannesburg.
I base them on charcoal drawings, which are then laser-cut from copper or steel, hand-buffed and polished and mounted in small blocks of hand-chiseled concrete (unless it is self-supporting like the baby rhino orphanage). There are 7 people involved in the process of making each piece. They are varied editions of 8, signed and numbered.
