This is a combination of work from various exhibitions earlier in the artist’s career which followed on from the series of work of skies, which tended to be structured around a defined horizon line; in these the composition has become looser. They hover between sky, landscape, water and abstract.
Some comments from reviewers included; “superb execution… there’s a dramatic red sunset in “I feel such freedom when I leave the world behind”, with a white turbulence that suggests the wake of an ocean liner setting out on a long voyage. Smaller canvasses are smoothly finished; in larger works the paint is more freely and thickly applied … overall it’s an impressive offering.” (Michael Coulson, Financial Mail)
And, “from the man whose signature style used to be heavy, expressive skylines with dark, bold colours comes a delightfully colourful, fun collection centered on the wisdom behind African proverbs.”
